Feature: Mouse Hover Media Preview

What feature or improvement do you think would benefit Files?

I am requesting a "Hover Preview" feature similar to QTTabBar. Currently, users must select a file and use QuickLook (Spacebar) to preview, which adds an extra step.

I would like to be able to preview media files (images, videos) simply by hovering the mouse cursor over the filename or icon, without clicking. This would significantly speed up the workflow when browsing folders containing many images.

Requirements

• Trigger: Show a large preview popup when the mouse hovers over a file for a short duration (e.g., 200ms).
• Dismiss: The popup should disappear immediately when the mouse moves away.
• Supported Types: Images (JPG, PNG, GIF), Videos, and Folder Thumbnails.
• Context: This should work for both files in the file list and items inside sub-folder menus (if implemented).

Thanks for the feedback, you can enable Files settings > Files & folders > Select files and folders when hovering over them and use the info pane on the right of the toolbar
